Read your reports
All eight financial statements in Spheyas — income, balance sheet, equity, retained earnings, COGS, COGM, SG&A and cash flow — and where the numbers come from.
Spheyas generates eight financial statements from the same ledger, so no number is typed in twice and the reports cannot drift from the books.
The eight statements
- Income statement (Profit & Loss) — what you earned and spent over a period.
- Balance sheet — what the business owns and owes at a moment in time: assets, liabilities and equity. Drawn for the organization as a whole.
- Statement of equity — how the owner's stake moved over the period.
- Retained earnings — the profit kept in the business rather than taken out.
- Cost of goods sold — the direct cost of what you sold.
- Cost of goods manufactured — what it cost to make the goods, for businesses that manufacture.
- SG&A — selling, general and administrative expenses.
- Cash flow — where the cash actually went.
Most small businesses open the first two and meet the rest when a specific question comes up; all eight are drawn live from the same postings.
The income statement's total is correct, but the expense breakdown is still a work in progress: bills currently post to a single "Uncategorized purchases" line rather than to their specific expense accounts. The named lines read 0 and the catch-all carries the bills until per-line categorization lands.
Where the numbers come from
Reports are drawn from ledger postings, not typed in. If a figure looks wrong, the fix is in the documents and payments behind it, not in the report itself.
